I'm a BSc Microbiology student, here's a few choice quotes from lectures:
On the upcoming exams: "Answer the fucking question!"
On study of pathogens in vitro: "In reality, we are not plastic dishes with cancerous cells on them."
On influenza mortality: "Children are disgusting... children - BOOM, dead! ... That came out wrong, I don't hate children... I have children myself..."
More influenza mortality: "Old giffers - they're dead."
On genetic engineering: "Is anyone recording this? ...ok - if you wanted to make a good bio-weapon just go to Gaddafi and tell him you can put the ricin gene into the influenza genome."
Hi! I'd just like to say this blog is fantastic. I'm also a first-year BSc student, technically in Zoology but as it sounds with yours, it's been very broad life science to start off with. Where abouts are you in the world that you have chameleons in your back garden?! I'm jealous.
I live in Stellenbosch, where I study. That’s in Cape Town.
Hello there! I stumbled across your blog and it amuses me greatly :D I'm doing my second year of Biochemistry/Life Science Technologies. Trust me, it only gets worse ;) I kid, I love science, as painful as it may be at times :)
Well hello! I'm glad I stumbled across your blog, it's pretty awesome. Since you asked so nicely, I'm Christina, and I don't do science.. yet ;D I'm planning on studying molecular medicine once I've graduated, though, so that is still to come (hopefully :D). How about you?
